Walking With Jesus Poster 2019
This is this year's poster for Lent. As you can see, it's pretty similar to the one from 2016 (same lectionary cycle). It's less about artistic skill and more about having a visual representation of the time. I cheated and had Klenda draw the only human in the picture!
The idea is that we color in a footstep each day of Lent, stopping by pictures that relate to the Sunday Gospels and the Triduum.
Some years, besides coloring in the footstep, we drew flowers around the footstep for sacrifices that we made. That worked very well when the Zooomlians were younger.
This year we'll do a sacrifice bean jar, where we put in a bean for each sacrifice or act of love.
We also do a vine and branches where each person has a branch and we put fruit and leaves as we catch people doing good.
And, of course, we'll do the Gospel Desserts!
The big change to this year's poster is that I made foot stamps out of sculpey so the footprints look more like feet and less like ovals!
I made a flat piece of clay and a thin "worm." I shaped the worm into a foot step with the help of a pencil, then baked at 275 for 15 minutes.
My stamp pads were all dry, so I colored the stamp with a marker and printed while it was wet. Not perfect, but I liked it better than the ovals (or drawing 40 individual prints!).
