Mostly Wordless Wednesday: Zoo

I'm Oob's favorite!
Me: What animals do you want to see at the zoo?
Oob: Roseate Spoonbills!

Zoo Trip

So, what do you do while you are waiting for your floors to harden?

We took our hard working Zoomlians on a mini vacation to the zoo!

We haven't been to a zoo in... well, looking through the archives, 2012!

We only saw the lower part of the zoo since we were taking our time.   Hopefully we'll go back and do the upper part later this summer.

We saw a real live tarantula in an exhibit.

And a real live (wild) rat snake on the path!

I'm pretty sure this was the animal that left the biggest impression!

But we did see lots of monkeys, orangutans, and gibbons.  The Emperor juggled for the gibbons, always a fun thing!

And we saw lions, and tigers, and T-rex skulls... I've never been sure why they put the T. rex in the big cat exhibit, but I'm not complaining!
You may have noticed that Zorg was missing- he was at scout camp that week and had a wonderful time- but that's another blog  post!

Last Zoo Trip

Last for a while, anyway!  The last trip we did the African side of the zoo with the traditional zoo animals.  This time we did the Maryland side.  The creatures are less exotic, but they have tons of hands on things.

And Mxyl still managed to get eaten by a lion,  so that was OK.
And all the kids reminded me that there will come a time when they will leave the nest. SNIFF!!

Then everyone got to pet the goats.  Actually, everyone enjoyed petting them for a surprisingly long time, and I thought, I have them in the nest a little longer!

Hope you are enjoying your Spring!

It's a Zoo Out There

And we had a great time!

We saw the great bears.

And we stuck some kids in a bear trap.

And Mxyl "drove" the Tundra Buggy.

I'm starting to rethink the whole "Mxyl will be learning to drive next year" thing...

It's the crazy gleam in the eye.

And we saw the most fascinating thing at the zoo!

Everyone was riveted!

It was an African Hornbill eating a frog!

And I took a picture, just for you!!

Ummmm...  We also saw penguins!!

It's hard to believe that live penguins could be anticlimactic.
