Awesome Geography: South Africa

Our art activity was these Zulu shields.

They're each an oval of black paper with slits to weave through strips of white paper.

We then added the spear, club and pole with brown paper.

Simple and very cool!

For our snack we made Malva pudding.  This is pudding in the British and South African sense: it's a dessert, but it's not like pudding, a creamy sweet thick sauce!  It was a bit last minute, so I made it as cupcakes instead of one big pudding.

Someone mentioned that this pudding is greater than the sum of it's parts, and they were spot on!  It's simple, but incredibly delicious!

Our active activity was Mbembe Mbembe, but we didn't actually get to it this class.  One family was out sick and we didn't have enough kids to play.
