This comes under the category, "God is More Creative than you Think."It's a barrel eye fish. You might think that it's pensive expression reflects the fish's confusion about who exactly thought those eyes looked like barrels. Why not the bubble headed fish?
Actually, it's pensive "eyes" are it's nose. It's actual eyes are in the middle of it's head beneath those green domes. They are, well, barrel shaped and swivel about like binoculars, although most of the time it is looking straight up through it's head.
