I loved your 12 days. We have enjoyed learning the Hawaiian 12 days of Christmas this year. My older son, when hanging with some friends, discovered that they don't even know the real words, only the hawaiian version..."oh.. it is "true love"?" The funniest is "Five beeg fat peeg" and it uses some of the local language. "tutu" is grandma

here is the song, you can skip to 3:10 to just hear 12 on down

here are the lyrics...written in 1959.

Mele Kalikimaka!

Wow! We all thought that was hilarious! We liked the dried squid part- have you tried it? Also, I have been mispronouncing ukelele all these years! Thanks so much!

No, I won't be trying dried squid :) They do have tiny dried fish in the candy section at the grocery. Asian "sweets" are very different from what we are used to. And yes, the pronunciation of "ukelele" is how you can tell a local from a visitor. oo ka lay lay who knew? :) fun stuff!
